Our Vision:  Helping people discover and follow Jesus

The vision of Coast Hills Community Church is rooted in a deep desire to help people experience the kind of relationships God created us for; first with Him and then with other people.

That vision is centered on HELPING people.  Coast Hills’ commitment is to walk with you regardless of your starting point.  So, if you are taking your first tentative steps or if you’ve already run a spiritual marathon, our commitment is to help you in finding God’s best for you.

We want to help people DISCOVER Jesus.  We’re convinced that the greatest discovery a person can make in life is a personal relationship with Jesus.  Many Canadians are convinced that the church is irrelevant and therefore Jesus is irrelevant.  We want to communicate in culturally relevant ways the timeless value of Jesus Only He has the power to truly change a life from the inside out.

Once a person discovers Jesus and makes him their forgiver, then we enter an exciting life-long journey where we FOLLOW our newfound friend.  Being a Christ-follower is a daily, dynamic process that impacts our values, priorities and identity, and shapes our character.

At Coast Hills we want to see as many people as possible experience a life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ.  We believe the church is the vehicle that shines the light so that Jesus can be discovered.

Jesus said, “You are like light for the whole world.  A city (or church!) on top of a hill cannot be hidden….make your light shine so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.”  We think that what Jesus envisioned was that when we’re doing church the way He planned – whole communities will be impacted.  It can’t be hidden because lives are being transformed and it’s too good to be kept a secret.  It’s not just hype but real and lasting change to a whole community.  It happens in sometimes small ways, one life at a time.

The commitment of this church is to help people find their way in life - to “give life to living”.  When they’re confused about life’s purpose or meaning, that we would shine a light and show them Jesus.  We want to share this life with creativity and energy so that people will see the hope, the joy, the friendship that is extended from Coast Hills and say  “Ah, so that’s what God in heaven is like!”.

Our Mission:

Our Mission is to give L.I.F.E.

We exist to lead people to Love Jesus Passionately, get Involved in God’s Work in this world, find Friendship in God’s Family, and Extend God’s Grace to lost people.

The goal is to guide people into authentic relationship with Jesus Christ, and help them in turn guide others.

But how can we know we’re actually doing what we set out to do?  Specifically, how can we evaluate our church as a whole and know when we are doing well and when we need to work for change?  What are the signs of spiritual vitality and health in our participating members?  What does an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ look like?

The L.I.F.E. acronym is our attempt as a church to draw, in broad strokes, the picture of a person who is on the road to an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ; a person who is:

Loving Jesus:  developing a walk with God evidenced by a PASSIONATE RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ and a GROWING OBEDIENCE to God’s Word.

Involved in God’s Work:  DISCOVERING and IMPLEMENTING their spiritual gifts so they CONTRIBUTE to God’s work.

Friendship in God’s Family:  entering into ever-increasing PARTICIPATION in authentic community.

Extend God’s Grace:  having a life-on-life impact by “TELLING, BEING and DOING” the good news of Jesus Christ.

These become the hallmarks or key markings we look to as we examine our personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
